Pitcher of the day: Bill Singer pitched a complete game and allowed only one 9th inning run as the Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 8-1.

Player of the Day: Larry Christenson was 2 for 3 with a 2-run homer. The home run in the top of the 5th inning was the eventual game-winning hit as the Phillies beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2.

Pitcher of the Day: Doug Rau pitched a 5-hit shutout against the Houston Astros. Rau outdueled J.R. Richard, who only allowed one run in 7.2 innings.

Pitcher of the Day: Rick Waits allowed one run in 8 1/3 innings as the Indians beat the Orioles 6-1. The Indians are now 3 ½ games out of first place in the AL East

Pitcher of the Day: Mark Fidrych pitched a shutout against the New York Yankees. Fidrych outdueled Ed Figueroa, who lost for only the fourth time this season and is now 17-4. The Yankees are now only four games in front of the surprising Cleveland Indians in the AL East.
