Player of the Day: Dave Lopes stole four bases while going 1 for 2 with three walks


Pitcher of the Day: After clinching the NL East, the Mets decided to have a look at a couple of youngsters. In game 1 of a doubleheader, Nino Espinosa allowed one run, struck out 11 batters and scattered six hits in a complete-game win. In the second game Bob Myrick pitched a six-hit shutout

National League - September 27


Player of the Day: Ken Boswell hit a bases loaded double and knocked in all three runners in the top of the 8th inning to break a 1-1 tie.  Houston won the game 4-1.

Pitcher of the Day: Jon Matlack allowed two runs in a complete-game win over the Montreal Expos. Matlack won his 19th game and will have a shot at 20 wins later in the week.
