Reggie Jackson hit a homerun and had 3 RBI at Memorial Stadium as the
Baltimore Orioles beat the Detroit Tigers in 23 innings 9 to 6.

Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings. Baltimore ended up
winning it in the 23rd inning. After an out was recorded, Al Bumbry began
the rally when he drew a walk. One out later, Jackson stepped up to the
plate and he was walked intentionally. Lee May then lofted a three-run bomb
(his 6th of the season) giving Baltimore the win much to the delight of the
home town crowd. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead
changed hands 6 times.

Mike Flanagan(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1/3 of an
inning. John Hiller(2-1) was the loser in relief. He allowed 1 hit and 3
walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
