Player of the Day: George Foster went 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBI as the Reds beat the Atlanta Braves 13-6. Cincinnati’s magic number to clinch the NL West is down to two games.

Pitcher of the Day: Burt Hooton went 10 innings, allowed one run, and earned the win in a 2-1 win over the Houston Astros

The Mets may actually be a "team of destiny" in this replay. The Phillies led 5-2 with one out in the bottom of the 9th. Steve Carlton seemed to have things well in hand. Lefty allowed a couple of hits and a run, so he was lifted for a reliever. Ron Reed allowed two hits and a walk and the Mets won the game.

Player of the Day: Gary Thomasson singled in the tying run in the top of the 9th inning and scored the winning run in San Francisco’s 2-1 win over the Atlanta Braves. The win snapped the Giants’ 12-game losing streak.

Pitcher of the Day: Burt Hooton went the full nine innings and allowed one run as the Dodgers beat the Cincinnati Reds 8-1.

Pitcher of the Day: Burt Hooton pitched a five-hit shutout as the Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 4-0. The Dodgers got back to .500 and are now 50-50.
