Pitcher of the Day: Marty Pattin pitched a  much-needed six-hit shutout against the Minnesota Twins. The Royals now lead the AL West by 1 ½ games.

Player of the Day: Del Unser was 4 for 4 with four RBI and two runs scored in Montreal’s win over the Pirates.

Pitcher of the Day: Doug Rau pitched a five-hit shutout in the first game of the Dodgers’ doubleheader sweep of the Atlanta Braves.
