National League - June 28

Player of the Day: Two players get the honor today. Willie McCovey hit a 3-run homer off of Santo Alcala of the Cincinnati Reds in the bottom of the 8th inning to tie the game at 3-3. The Padres eventually won the game 6-5. Mike Tyson hit a 3-run homer in the top of the 9th off of Tom Seaver. The Cardinals won the game 4-3.

Pitcher of the Day: Rich Rhoden of the LA Dodgers pitched a complete-game victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Strange thing happened in this game. All three Montreal outfielders made an error in the same inning. Pepe Mangual made a throwing error, Bombo Rivera muffed a single to allow a Phillie to take an extra base, and Gary Roenicke muffed a fly ball. None of the outfielders had an e-rating above 16. Interesting.
