American League - September 4


Player of the Day: Amos Otis went 3 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI to help  the Kansas City Royals to a 6-0 
win over the Texas Rangers.

Pitcher of the Day: Dennis Leonard had a no-hitter going into the 7th inning against the Texas Rangers. Toby Harrah led off the top of the 7th inning and bunted for a base hit to break up the no-hitter. Leonard allowed a single to Gene Clines in the 9th inning and ended up with a 2-hit shutout.

American League - August 6




Players of the day: Amos Otis hit a 3-run homer that provided the margin needed for the Royals to win the first game of a doubleheader. John Mayberry hit a 2-run shot in the 1st inning to game 2 and the Royals were able to hold on and win 2-1 for the sweep.

Pitcher of the day: Frank Tanana pitched a 2-hit shutout against the Oakland A’s. Tanana walked two and struck out nine as he improved his record to 12-8 with a 2.33 ERA.

Player of the Day: Amos Otis homered twice and had 3 RBI in the Royals’ 9-2 win over the California Angels.


Pitcher of the Day: Mike Torrez pitched a 2-hit shutout against the Chicago White Sox. The A’s remain one game behind the Kansas City Royals in the AL West.
