National League - September 17

Player of the Day: Pete Rose was 3 for 5 with two runs scored and three RBI. Rose hit a 2-run triple in the bottom of the 8^th inning to key a comeback win by the Reds.

Pitcher of the Day: Pedro Borbon pitched two scoreless innings and earned the victory as the Reds beat the San Francisco Giants. Borbon has a record of 18-6 – pretty amazing for a middle reliever!

The Braves were down 8-0 after two innings and managed to come back and win the game

National League - September 16

Player of the Day: Johnny Bench hit a 3-run homer in the Reds’ victory over the LA Dodgers.

Pitcher of the Day: Jerry Koosman pitched a 4-hit shutout as the Mets increased their NL East lead to 6 ½ games. The Mets’ magic number is  now 11.

National League - September 15

Player of the Day: Bobby Murcer homered twice and had four RBI against a very tough left-hander (Randy  Jones). It wasn’t enough as the Padres beat the Giants 9-6.

Pitcher of the Day: Mickey Lolich had a complete game 4-2 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals.
