National League - September 20


Player of the Day: Rennie Stennett doubled twice and scored the eventual winning run as the Pirates beat the NL East leading New York Mets 2-0.

Pitcher of the Day: John Candelaria shut out the Mets 2-0. He is now 14-10 with a 2.98 ERA.

National League - September 19


Player of the Day: Cliff Johnson knocked in six of the seven runs scored by the Astros in a 7-4 victory. Johnson’s 10th inning 3-run homer proved to be the difference in the game.

Pitcher of the Day: Jim Rooker pitched a 5-hit shutout against the New York Mets

Player of the Day: George Foster was 3 for 5 with two home runs and six RBI as the Reds continued to roll.

Pitcher of the Day: Dennis Lewallyn pitched a 2-hit shutout against the Atlanta Braves

National League - September 17


Player of the Day: Pete Rose was 3 for 5 with two runs scored and three RBI. Rose hit a 2-run triple in the bottom of the 8th inning to key a comeback win by the Reds.

Pitcher of the Day: Pedro Borbon pitched two scoreless innings and earned the victory as the Reds beat the San Francisco Giants. Borbon has a record of 18-6 – pretty amazing for a middle reliever!



The Braves were down 8-0 after two innings and managed to come back and win the game
