Player of the Day: Tommy Helms was 4 for 6 with 2 RBI and 2 runs as the Pirates beat the Atlanta Braves 9-4.
Pitcher of the Day: John Montefusco shut the New York Mets out for 10 innings before the Giants finally got a run in the bottom of the 10th for a 1-0 victory. Honorable mention goes to Jon Matlack who pitched 9 innings of one-hit shutout ball in the same game.
