National League - April 30


Player of the Day: Nate Colbert hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 6th inning, leading the Expos to a 4-2 come-from-behind win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Pitcher of the Day: Ed Halicki pitched a 4-hit shutout against the Chicago Cubs. The Giants won the game 1-0.



















National League - April 29

Player of the Day: Jose Cruz was 4 for 5 with 4 RBI and a home run in Houston's 9-6 victory over the Montreal Expos.

Pitcher of the Day: Tom Seaver outpitched Phil Niekro, shutting out the Atlanta Braves 4-0.

Player of the Day: Willie Crawford was 3 for 3 with a stolen base, 2 runs, and 2 RBI in the Cardinals' 14-3 romp over the San Francisco Giants.


Pitcher of the Day: Burt Hooton pitched a complete game 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
















National League - April 27

Player of the Day: Mike Schmidt hit a 2-run homer and scored the eventual winning run in the Phillies' 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Pitcher of the Day: Lynn McGlothen pitched a 3-hit shutout as the Cardinals cruised to a 7-0 win over the San Francisco Giants.

Player of the Day: Steve Garvey was 4 for 4 with 2 HR and 4 RBI in the Dodgers' 7-6 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Pitcher of the Day: Mickey Lolich pitched 8 2/3 innings and allowed one run in the Mets' 6-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves.


























1976 National League - Week 3 in Review


The Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets continue to lead their respective divisions.
The Mets have a league-leading 2.39 team ERA and also lead the NL with 18 home runs. The Reds are 4th in team ERA (2.95). They aren't hitting many homers (six so far in the season's first three weeks), but they lead in team batting average by 43 points (.314 to the 2nd place Dodgers' .271) and have scored 28 more runs than
2nd place Chicago (99 to 71).
