National League - August 10

Player of the Day: Dave May of the Atlanta Braves homered twice (including a game tying 2-run homer in the top of the 9th) and knocked in three runs but it wasn’t enough as the Braves lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4.

Pitcher of the Day: Jerry Koosman had a complete game victory over the San Diego Padres. Koosman allowed three runs as he won his 13th game. He still leads the NL with a 1.72 ERA.

Have  you ever gotten a newspaper and it mistakenly had the wrong boxscores in it? That's what happened here. I had the player stories and standings right, but I put in the boxscores from the 9th instead of the 10th. Here is the corrected entry. :)

Philadelphia 5, Atlanta 4
.

Cincinnati 6, Chicago 2

Houston 6, St. Louis 2

Pittsburgh 8, Los Angeles 2

New York 4, San Diego 3

San Francisco 4, Montreal 3
