National League - May 21

Player of the Day: Al Oliver was 3 for 3 with two homers in Pittsburgh's 8-0 win over the Chicago Cubs.
Pitcher of the Day: J.R. Richard pitched a 5-hit shutout against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

This game was very interesting. Pete Rose booted a ground ball in the 5th inning that led to two San Diego unearned runs. It looked like the lead would stand up as Randy Jones had a one-hit shutout with two out in the top of the 9th. Tony Perez homered to make it 2-1. George Foster then came up and homered to tie the game. In the 10th inning Rose came up with Doug Flynn on first base and homered to put the Reds ahead to stay.
