Player of the Day: Dave Kingman was 3 for 5 with 2 HR and 7 RBI in the Mets' 11-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Pitcher of the Day: Rob Dressler pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed one unearned run as the Giants beat the San Diego Padres 3-1.


Honorable mention for both awards goes to Phil Niekro. He had two hits and got the victory over his brother Joe. The Braves beat the Astros 6-1.
